Although I do not know much about how to fix the economy I will offer some suggestions. There were many factors that contributed to the Great Depression back around 1930. It was because of the overproduction and then the small spending after it at that time. People were investing too much and exceeding their monetary limit so when all this nonexistent money circulated, nothing showed for it. So what can we do to get out of a recession? Well it makes sense to create jobs as jobs will decreasing unemployment and getting paid will increase consumer confidence and more people will start buying again. But for these jobs in today's time they cannot be ones that can be outsourced to other countries. It has to be a job that makes it viable to keep in the US. New ideas such as consumption of energy (renewable, alternative) and newer technologies can help. To reduce the debt we should not continue borrowing money from foreign countries, obviously. People need to stop crossing the line and buy what you can afford. The last thing is that the government should not limit corporate activity harshly or allocate money to try and distribute it evenly or to lower classes (just because they are "entitled" to it). I believe in helping the struggling working and lower classes, but communism/socialism is not the solution.
