I'm new to this blogging thing...

Hello everyone! I’m Meredith McInturff. If I could describe myself in one word, I would say “involved.” Since I am an only child, I feel that I missed out on that whole stage where you are supposed to torment your siblings and have those crazy family memories of stupid things that you and your siblings did as children. Therefore, upon learning that there were ways to be involved in activities that create those kinds of memories, I jumped onboard. Girl Scouts, Orchestra, Speech and Debate team, Y-Club, Spanish Club, Young Republicans, Student Council, Beta Club, playing piano, youth group, volunteering at my church, and this year, EAP mentoring; this is how my days are spent. Calling myself busy is an understatement, but I like it that way. It makes life interesting.

This summer was completely different from any other. It taught me to appreciate what I have because there is always someone in the world who will be less fortunate than me. Due to this new mentality I have, this summer was amazing. Working at different camps, making new friends, and going to CIY with my youth group are only a few of the awesome things that have happened to me. I have learned that there is so much more to life than just school and getting good grades (which was something that used to be my only focus in life). Now that is not to say that those things aren’t important because they still are for me. I also realized this summer that I have a passion for working with people. It’s something I enjoy doing because it constantly allows you to learn and have new experiences without a boring day to day schedule.

I hate it when people ask me what I want to do with the rest of my life because I can honestly answer, I don’t know yet. While I have ambitions of going to some great college on the east coast and travelling to other countries when I get older, I really am not sure of what job I want, what I want to study in college, or where I want to live. My problem is that I have too many interests and I’m pretty sure there isn’t a job that combines my love of people, travelling, sports, government, law, music, theater, nature, science, and a slight interest in medicine. One of my goals for this year is to refine my interests, so I might be able to figure out what I want to do later in life.

What is my favorite website? That is a tough one for me. I am pretty much addicted to Pandora considering I’m listening to it as I write this. However, I am going to say that Bluegrass Threads, a website created my older cousin Katherine and one of her friends, is one of my favorite sites to visit for creative ideas about everything and about things to do and see in Lexington area. Check it out sometime! http://www.bluegrassthreadsky.com
