Late Pass: Fixing the National Debt
The national debt looms like a dark cloud over all of America. If divided amongsts Americans everyone would owe at lest forty five thousand dollars. It is a crisis of behemoth preportions. With Fourteen trillion dollars of debt and the Federal spending almost a trillion dollars on interest alone, it is safe to say that we are screwed for at least deveral decades. But that does not mean that we cannot establish sound monetary policy and example. We need a balanced budget and as of right now the Senate cannot agree on a sound plan. We need to stop wasteful spending- the Obama stimulus was somewhat of a disaster. The United States rarely goes twenty years without figting a war. Wars on not cheap, especially the ones we fight. We need to stay out of war, as it is the most wasteul and pernicious spending of which I can think. We must stay out of foreign entanglements. If we had avoided the Iraq war we would have we would have saved a few trillion. We must exercise more judicious judgement.
