I used to be a student like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

In their tongue, he is Dovahkiin, Dragonborn! He mastered the Thu'um, the language of the dragons. He traveled to Sovngarde and vanished Alduin, the World Eater. He is the Harbringer of the Companions, the Archmage of the College of Winterhold, the Guild-master of the Thieves Guild, the Listener to the Night Mother. He can Fus Roh Dah.

The Dovahkiin is known by all, one of the greatest heroes of Skyrim, a truly legendary figure, and not my ideal character. Evil dragons have come back to life, civil war tearing the land apart, Grandpa Jones needs help crossing the street. The fate of the world hangs in the balance, he's the only one who can save us, blah blah blah. Too much responsibility. I am a lazy person. I like playing the characters that save worlds. Having to actually do it would be a giant pain.

No, there is, instead, another character that fits my needs perfectly. While some other poor sap is being the Dovahkiin, running around everywhere trying to please everyone, I'll be chilling on the sidelines. Everytime he comes by, I'll condescending gloat to his face with one of my many catchphrases. "No lollygaggin", "Let me guess, someone stole your sweetroll", "I used to be an adventure like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee". And while working part-time as a guard, I'm getting a hefty salary and some amazing benefits for injured veterans. I even have a vacation house in Summerset Isles.

So let someone else deal with the unpleasantries of Skyrim. To heck with being Dovahkiin, the sucker that everyone takes advantage of. I am content with my zero responsibility and laid-back lifestyle. And even if I die, the game would just respawn me in a couple of days.

Fictional character

If I could be ANY fictional character, I would definitely be Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean. I have always liked pirates, but not for their actions. I just like the idea of sailing around the ocean and being a pirate would be cool. Jack Sparrow is crazy and wild and he makes some poor decisions throughout his movies, but he has a good time and is a pirate fighting people all of the time. He has fun being a pirate because does not get too angry at anybody. This is kind of like me. I am hyper and do not too mad at people. Sparrow does what he wants and people do not try to tell him differently. He is wise and an odd guy. It would be awesome to be the top dog of the seas and to be able to fight and defeat anybody who he encounters. This is not because he is so skilled with a sword, but Jack Sparrow is creative and can find numerous ways to defeat another pirate or enemy. That is why I would be Captain Jack Sparrow out of any fiction character.

Legen... wait for it DARY

This is almost too easy a blog. If I wanted to be a fictional character, it would totally have to be Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother. Originally, I was thinking James Bond, but half the chicks he gets with try to kill him. As such, I decided Barney would be much better. In fact, I can relate to Barney as well, with all my weird quirks and habits. We also share the same sense of dirty, vulgar humor, as well as an appreciation for Ewoks. He wears a suit almost every second he's awake, and when he's sleeping, he wears suitjamas.
Such class makes me envious of his life. Not only does he have a seemingly impossibly lucrative job that supplies him with enough money to buy two 300 inch televisions, but he is also extremely skilled when dealing with the ladies. Money, suits, chicks, who wouldn't want to be Barney? Aside from all the superficial behavior, Barney is also a nice guy deep down, but just doesn't like to show it. I can totally relate to Barney. I like to think I'm him, except not white or successful whatsoever. Actually the only thing we share is the vulgar mindset. Perhaps one day I will be able to afford a luxurious apartment with a Storm Trooper model and katana in the back, along with a professionally lit pornography collection. Ten foot televisions would be nice as well. He seems to be ridiculously lucky in almost every way possible, and has the most amazing habits, such as his religious following of the Bro Code, something all guys must follow.

Perhaps I can be a Barney in the future.

Fictional Characters

If I could be any fictional character, I would be...? Well, if you had asked me when I was younger, I would have without-a-doubt said Belle from Beauty and the Beast. I would spend countless hours with my Beauty and the Beast VHS during my early years, and despite my mother’s protest, I dressed up like Belle for three Halloweens in a row in early elementary school. Nowadays, I would say Ginny Weasley. Besides the fact that I love Harry Potter, Ginny is a very interesting and confident girl who is also a wizard. How cool is that! The fact that she has been in the scariest of situations like the Chamber of Secrets, but then she developed the courage to fight in Dumbledore’s Army later on is rather inspiring. I also envy her large caring family who is always supportive during the worst of times. It would be so cool to live in a house full of brothers. Never a dull moment there between the magic and the sibling rivalry, I bet. I also envy her red hair. Red heads seem to always be more interesting than normal hair colored people. Knowing some red heads within my family, they tend to have a temper, but they usually know how to get what they want. But is that really a bad thing? I don’t necessarily think so. It would be cool if I could do that though. Lastly, I would definitely want to be Ginny because who wouldn’t want to marry Harry Potter? I mean, he is “the chosen one.” Basically, besides the trials they face with Voldemort, Ginny lives a fairly happy life. Who wouldn't want that?

Assignment 18: Fictional Character, Fictional Life

This week's blog is brought to you from the mind of Hannah Evans and Zachary Atwell.
