In their tongue, he is Dovahkiin, Dragonborn! He mastered the Thu'um, the language of the dragons. He traveled to Sovngarde and vanished Alduin, the World Eater. He is the Harbringer of the Companions, the Archmage of the College of Winterhold, the Guild-master of the Thieves Guild, the Listener to the Night Mother. He can Fus Roh Dah.
The Dovahkiin is known by all, one of the greatest heroes of Skyrim, a truly legendary figure, and not my ideal character. Evil dragons have come back to life, civil war tearing the land apart, Grandpa Jones needs help crossing the street. The fate of the world hangs in the balance, he's the only one who can save us, blah blah blah. Too much responsibility. I am a lazy person. I like playing the characters that save worlds. Having to actually do it would be a giant pain.
No, there is, instead, another character that fits my needs perfectly. While some other poor sap is being the Dovahkiin, running around everywhere trying to please everyone, I'll be chilling on the sidelines. Everytime he comes by, I'll condescending gloat to his face with one of my many catchphrases. "No lollygaggin", "Let me guess, someone stole your sweetroll", "I used to be an adventure like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee". And while working part-time as a guard, I'm getting a hefty salary and some amazing benefits for injured veterans. I even have a vacation house in Summerset Isles.
So let someone else deal with the unpleasantries of Skyrim. To heck with being Dovahkiin, the sucker that everyone takes advantage of. I am content with my zero responsibility and laid-back lifestyle. And even if I die, the game would just respawn me in a couple of days.
