Haddon Alford

In English class, I sit next to Haddon Alford. I don't much about Haddon other than he plays basketball, went to TLS, his father was an admiral in the Navy, and he lived in Hawaii for a few years.

But Haddon has somewhat of a split personality. On one hand, he can be mature. He tries to deny any association with the immature behavior of my other neighbor, Alex Atwood. This is true at times. Haddon actually participates in class on occasion, and, as far as I know, he does well in school. Haddon is fairly discrete with his immaturity, so he doesn't anger teachers or interrupt the class...like other people...

Then again, there is Haddon's other side. This is the side that tells equivocal jokes with Alex and burps in my face. I have to admit, this is side is more entertaining...and grosser. Sitting between Haddon and Alex has been, not good or bad, but a very interesting experience so far. Although they never fail to offend me at some point each day in class, I have to admit that class would be more boring without them.

Meet Virginia

Through the many activities, qualities, and areas of our lives that Virginia and I share I have come to know my seat buddy well enough to call her one of my closest friends. Yet, because of this I can tell you all about the REAL Virginia Grimes. Witty, kind, classy (haha), and put-together, Virginia often comes across as approachable and social. She knows herself impeccably well and always has an adequate balance in her life that enables her never to get too overwhelmed but also never to become lazy (I'm shhoo jealous of this). Additionally, she can always find the good in situations and people and will never hesitate to put people in their place when need be. Furthermore, she's one of the few people that I know I can act completely stupid with and know that she won't be judging me as I do. The story about the "I Believe in Cake Speech," various moments in French class (Mrs. Perry's story about taking her cat to France, etc.), and our drives to swim practice have come to characterize our friendship and exemplify the funnier aspects of it. In five years Virginia will be graduating Wake Forest or where ever else she wants to go because I have no doubt she'll be capable of getting into what ever school she wants to go to. Finally, so that all of you can really get to know Virginie (her French name), here's a short list of the things she likes most:

TV Show: Gossip Girl
Place: New York City
After School Snack: Something savory, usually Cane's chicken fingers
FroYo: Natti Creme
Activity: NOT swimming, most likely travelling or watching things on Netflix
Stroke in Swim: Breaststroke
Song: I forget what it's called but it's the one that comes after Mac Miller on that CD you made me (track 16)
Cousin: Berry
French Teacher: Madame Chandelier
Dream Car: Volvo XC90
Drink: Probably something watermelon
Obsession: Pinterest
Dream Job (now): Employee of J. Crew
Dream Job (eventually): Editor of major magazine like Elle or something
College: Wake Forest

LUCAS

Ah, Lucas, what can I say? He is a carefree person with a warm smile. I reminisce to the days back where I did not know him. There were only a few spot moments where I'd see him which was walking down the halls, tennis, or during world history before he switched out. I had not known much about him then. I still have to say another half of him remains a mystery to me, but that's good because it makes Luke unexpected. What I have learned is that Luke is a fine connoisseur of music of all types. He is also one to not stress and appears prepared for curve balls.

If Luke were a color he'd be blue no explanation needed. In five years he'd be a made person surfing on the shores of California with a beach house. He likes the laid back lifestyle of the west (I believe) and knows how to chill with class. Now if Luke was an animal he'd be a predator. I can't specify but he'd be selective of his prey and attack in favorable conditions. He could wait an hour or a week like a sniper and would be patient. I know if he was a beast of that sort I'd kill myself before his baw$ self could get to me.

My Neighbor Annie

Although our last names are so close to each other, sun and summer, AP English is what I believe the first class where we are seated next to each other. Even so, we don't talk much, to each other or during classroom discussions. English is more of a relaxed class where we just sit back and let go of the stresses of the day while watching the class attack Abi, a pretty enjoyable time if I may say so.

From the limited classes I've had with her, I know that she is into Japanese culture. Annie brought a Japanese exchange student, who was living at her house, to school for a couple of days. I still vividly remember an enthusiastic Silvia trying to communicate with the exchange student by using a pocket Japanese-English dictionary that Annie had brought, though to no avail. I assume Annie can speak some Japanese, and I could see her pursuing a career there in the future.

Logan "talker" Gardner

The first statement here has to be that Logan and Virginia are an inseparable pair. During class they do everything together, including interrupt it with their laughter and talking.
Logan has to be one of the most chatty and meticulous people that I have ever met. he is almost always the last one finished on his vocal quizzes and AP practice tests, because he checks an rechecks everything. This is a characteristic of Logan that I greatly admire. One that doesn't behoove me as much as the other trait is the fact that he is so chatty. He loves talking, almost a much as his favorite food (whatever that might be). And I sincerely believe that he talks mostly because Virginia sits next to him and they are best friends.
There are many hidden qualities about Logan that I do not know... Yet. But hopefully over time I will cone to learn them, and we will become closer.

the REAL logan gardner

This prompt really cracks me up. MESSAGE TO LOGAN: Do not worry this is not some frightening exposé on your life, though I honestly could ruin yours with everything I know about you mwuahaha. Anyways, I sit next to this pretty weird kid named Logan Gardner. Everyday in English class, without fail, he will undoubtedly yell at me because my backpack and purse are "in his personal space." He will have to deal with this for the rest of the year (sorry dude, get get over it). We literally laugh at the dumbest things, like last week we completely interrupted class because we were howling with laughter at some stupid story I told him about my friend who wrote a speech all about cake. It genuinely brought tears to my eyes I was laughing so hard for absolutely no reason at all. Though he has a tendency to get me in trouble with these various little distractions, he is one of the only people I can act like a complete fool around. We experience many LOL moments (I hate that acronym more than anything) in French class especially because we have to deal with our crazy random teacher and our funny little class. We also both swim for Henry Clay so we have to put up with the many hassles and inconveniences it brings to our lives together! In five years I see him happy at the college of his choice, probably University of Texas or UPenn. I'm sure that he will get into either or both because he has a very strong work ethic despite his "poor quality of life" sometimes. All in all, we have some very good times and I'm glad to be able to give you all a closer look at my neighbor Lo-gon (his French name).

Meredith "210" Mcinturff

I am really obnoxious. I know this blog is about Meredith, but that sets this story up. Anyways, the first time I remember having any real interaction with Meredith was in freshman year Geometry with Mrs. Eastham. This particular day our class was getting scores back from a really large test, maybe our final. So, I didn't do particularly well in the class and the teacher didn't like me, so I was kind of trying to be ass. So I was that guy that stupidly commented on everything. But then Meredith's score was announced, the test was out of like a hundred and eighty five or ninety points. Two hundred and ten. That was her score. I actually remained silent because that was absurd. Whenever I saw her next, I started calling her 210, not " two hundred and ten", but "two" "ten". I just thought it was really cool that she " insert appropriate past tense verb here" on the test that hard. Now 210 is not the most flattering nickname, especially because I said it every time I saw her. Yeah, it was obnoxious. But Meredith was really chill about, always indulging my obnoxiousness very nicely.
Jump forward almost three years later and not much has changed. We sit next to each other in Mr. Logsdon's 5th hour English class, and she still laughs at my obnoxious jokes. Admittedly, I am a little better than freshman year, but not really. She really just is a very nice, down to earth person. So, I don't really know what type of animal Meredith would be or what color best represents her, or all of her life dreams and ambitions. But what I can say is that it has been a pleasure getting to know her a little bit over these years of high school and I am proud to have met her.
